Rosemont College is proud to announce the student speakers for the 2025 Commencement Ceremony. These individuals exemplify Rosemont’s values of academic excellence, service, and lifelong learning. Representing both the Undergraduate College and the School of Graduate and Professional Studies, Gabrielle Holmes and Terrie Kiley will share their inspiring journeys and messages with the graduating class.
Gabrielle Holmes: A Scholar and Campus Leader
Representing the Undergraduate College, Gabrielle Holmes graduated in December 2024, a semester early, earning a double major in English and Communications with a minor in Creative Writing. She is now enrolled in Rosemont’s dual degree master’s program in Creative Writing and Publishing.
During her undergraduate years, Gabrielle was an Honors Program scholar and now serves as a Graduate Assistant for the program. Her campus involvement was extensive. She played on the women’s soccer team, served as a Student Ambassador, led Thorn, Rosemont’s literary magazine, and held the position of president of the Student Government Association.
Gabrielle also completed an internship with Philadelphia Stories, where she gained hands-on experience managing social media and producing the monthly newsletter.
“When I first arrived at Rosemont, it immediately felt like home and reminded me of the small town I grew up in, where everyone knows and supports each other,” she said. “My dream is to become a poet and college professor, and Rosemont has given me a strong foundation to move forward with confidence.”
Her advice to graduates: “Immerse yourself fully in campus life. Networking is powerful at Rosemont, and every connection and opportunity will help you grow.”
Terrie Kiley: A Champion of Lifelong Learning
Terrie Kiley will represent the School of Graduate and Professional Studies. She will graduate with a degree in Business Management while continuing her career as Senior Executive Assistant to the Senior Vice President of Government Markets at Independence Blue Cross.
Terrie chose Rosemont because of its mission to cultivate joy in learning and minds that thrive on compassion and reason. “Finishing my degree has always been a goal and doing it at Rosemont opened doors I never imagined,” she said.
Terrie was recently honored with the Paradigm Scholarship for Working Women, awarded by the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia. This prestigious merit-based award recognizes women pursuing undergraduate degrees while working full-time for Chamber-member organizations.
Terrie’s message to fellow graduates, especially adult learners: “It’s never too late to pick it back up and pursue your dreams.”
