Rosemont College senior and student-athlete John Woods recently attended the 2025 NCAA Convention in Nashville, Tennessee. Woods, a standout member of the Rosemont baseball team and co-president of the Rosemont Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (RSAAC), joined student-athletes and administrators from across the country to discuss the future of college athletics.
The NCAA Convention is an annual gathering where member institutions come together to address key issues in college sports, celebrate achievements, and vote on legislative proposals. This event provides an opportunity for student-athletes like Woods to engage with NCAA leadership and gain a deeper understanding of the governance of college athletics.
“I gained valuable insight into the way the NCAA is run and how they govern over 1,000 schools,” said Woods, a dual major in Sport Management and Accounting. “I also formed many new connections over the week, specifically with my fellow United East SAAC representatives along with others I met at the convention. Overall, attending the conference helped me strengthen my professional network and provided me with valuable leadership development.”
Throughout the week, Woods participated in a variety of sessions, including the United East Conference Meeting, Division III Issues Forum, and Student-Athlete Leadership Development Session. He also attended award presentations, a Student-Athlete Social Mixer, and the Division III Special Olympics Session. These experiences allowed him to network with student-athletes from other institutions and gain insight into how SAACs operate at different colleges.
Woods’ attendance at the convention reflects Rosemont College’s commitment to leadership, professional growth, and student-athlete success. His experience highlights the opportunities available to Rosemont students who want to expand their knowledge beyond the classroom and onto a national stage.
