Rosemont College senior Samson Gerner has etched his name into the record books, becoming the first player in the history of the Rosemont baseball program to reach 100 career hits. This milestone is a testament to his dedication, skill, and perseverance on the field.
“It was a pretty awesome moment,” said Gerner, a sport management major and communications minor from Vineland, New Jersey. “Being able to achieve such a prestigious milestone with everyone rooting for me was just a dream come true. I am grateful for all those around me and everyone who’s always had my back.”
Gerner’s achievement is even more remarkable given the program’s recent start. Rosemont introduced its baseball team in the spring of 2022, making his record-setting performance an early but significant milestone in the team’s history. As a catcher and infielder, Gerner has demonstrated leadership and consistency both offensively and defensively, helping to lay the foundation for the program’s future success.
“I am extremely happy that Samson achieved this terrific milestone for himself and for our program,” said Ross Trachtenberg, head coach of Rosemont’s baseball program. “It is a testament to both Samson’s ability and consistency over his four-year career at Rosemont. I am very proud of Samson for this great accomplishment.”
Beyond his athletic accomplishments, Gerner excels academically. He has earned first honors every semester and has been named to the Dean’s List, showcasing his commitment to excellence as a student-athlete.
Congratulations to Samson Gerner on this incredible accomplishment and for making Rosemont College proud!
