Support Rosemont College

It is with great pride that I write to share the exciting news that Reflect | Renew | Rejoice: The Campaign for Rosemont College has exceeded its goal of $40,000,000, with $40,230,413 raised, as of June 30th, 2017. Gifts of all sizes make a significant and vital difference to every student who walks this campus. Your gifts of support are now being accepted for the 2018 Rosemont Experience Fund and the building of our Community Center.

Last year's remarkable achievement would not have been possible without the generosity of so many alumni and donors, particularly the 400 individuals who committed to multi-year pledges to make the goal a reality. It is my true privilege to thank each and every donor for their “yes” to Rosemont’s mission, values, and bright future through their Campaign gifts and pledges.

The Campaign has provided the funding for over 8 million dollars of new endowed scholarships, the establishment of the Institute for Ethical Leadership and Social Responsibility, the purchase and renovation of Gracemere Honors House, the construction of the Weisbrod Information Commons in the Kistler Library, the construction of the Ravens’ Athletic Complex, the renovation of Rotwitt Theater of the McShain Performing Arts Center, the Phase One renovation of Cardinal Hall, and over 12 million dollars of operational expenses. In short, the Campaign has transformed Rosemont College.

I know I speak for the entire Rosemont College community in thanking the Chairs of the Campaign, Charles and Ann (Donovan) Marshall ’66, for their leadership, vision, and dedication to the Campaign. The Campaign’s success would not have been possible without them.

It is also my pleasure to thank the many Campaign volunteers for their service to the College. And to especially thank the staff of the Office of College Relations for their tireless work on the Campaign. Their efforts, many of them ‘behind the scenes,’ insured that the Campaign would reach its goal.

It goes without saying that the College community owes a debt of gratitude for the Campaign’s success to our President, Sharon Latchaw Hirsh, PhD ‘70. Her determination and enthusiasm were the driving forces behind the Campaign’s vision and its early days, and her commitment to the College and the Campaign’s completion has been unwavering.

In the past twelve years that President Hirsh has served as the President of Rosemont College enrollment has increased, the Undergraduate College has become coed, campus facilities have been enhanced and renovated, tuition has been decreased, salaries have grown, and academic programs have been strengthened. In recognition of this tremendous momentum, I am happy to share the news that the Board has extended President Hirsh’s contract for three years from 2017 – 2020.

In the upcoming weeks and months, you will be hearing from President Hirsh and the College about the plans for those years, including the extension of the Strategic Plan, the May 2018 ground-breaking for Phase Two of the Community Center (for which $3 million still needs to raised), and much more.

Please also know that we have plans in the works to celebrate the Campaign’s completion this fall – both with on-campus celebrations, a special event for donors, and hopefully some “shouting from the rooftops” media coverage. Stay tuned!

Until then, please know that the entire Rosemont College community has my sincere thanks and my heartfelt congratulations on achieving this $40,000,000 milestone.
