Wednesday January 4
Travel – arrival in Sicily. Transfer to Siracusa by taxi.
Accommodation in centrally located B&B within walking distance of the school. Shared rooms (singles available at extra cost) with communal cooking facilities, Wi-Fi in rooms, breakfast included.

Thursday January 5
AM Welcome breakfast at SCIE Center, orientation and Ortigia walking tour (to include the morning market)
PM Writing Session
Welcome Dinner

AM Neapolis Archaeological Park; Siracusa’s classical heritage
PM Writing Session
Evening: Free
 ruins that wrap around a entire field
Saturday January 7
Day Trip—Visit Taormina and the spectacular Greek Theatre
After lunch, drive up the slopes of Mt. Etna
Evening - wine and food tasting at a winery on Etna
 Yellow ruins with arch ways that welcome vistors to the historical area
Sunday January 8
AM Morning Writing Session
Late afternoon - pasta making workshop followed by dinner

Monday January 9
Two-Day Trip
AM depart for Agrigento, visit Valley of the Temples
PM transfer to Palermo, check into hotel, group evening meal
Tuesday January 10
Visit historic center of Palermo, Cappuccini Convent, and Monreale
PM return to Siracusa
Wednesday January 11
AM Morning Writing Session
PM Free afternoon and evening
 Market in the center with vetegables on the sides-the vintage city surronds people walking around
Thursday January 12
Day Trip to Catania - visit the WW II and Cinema museums, the fish market, the historic center and Cathedral, the Roman theatre, and the Verga museum
Friday January 13
AM Writing Session
Free afternoon
PM Farewell Dinner
Saturday January 14
Depart from Siracusa, taxi transfer to airport


For Credit: $3,000 Matriculated students (or students from other colleges that would like to take the retreat for credit) should register for CRW 7185 Winter Writing Seminar Abroad with permission from the program director.

Non-Credit: $2,500

Companion: $2,000 (Does Not Include Workshop)
